Глава первая. ГЛАВРЕД И СОРОКА
Газету «Сказочные ведомости» редактировал и издавал Емеля Пустомелин. Жил он в лесу у Кудыкиных гор в маленькой бревенчатой избушке. Это был тот самый Емеля, который прославился благодаря сказке «По щучьему веленью». Много воды утекло с тех памятных пор. Емеля получил высшее образование: выучился на журналиста. На первых порах ему щука Аграфена учиться помогала: где за него уроки сделает, где преподавателю клад посулит. Но вскоре Емеля от такой её помощи наотрез отказался. Совесть в нём заговорила или чувство собственного достоинства проснулось, это никому не ведомо. Только с тех пор стал Емельян Иванович полагаться только на «своё хотение». Хороши щучьи подарки, но когда до всего своей головой доходишь, во сто крат дороже да приятней.
Щука Аграфена на него за это не обиделась, а, наоборот, похвалила:
— Молодец, Емеля! Нашёл смелость отказаться от лёгкого счастья! Счастье-то нужно трудом да упорством добывать. Только тогда оно в радость бывает. А я уж стара стала, шюй раз не всякое желание исполнить удаётся. На покой, видно, пора, на пенсию. Только как дело оставишь, если опыт свой — чудотворительный, желаньеисполнятельный — передать некому?! Может, молодёжь моей премудрости обучить? Авось хоть один щурёнок из тысячи способным окажется.
— Хорошее дело, — одобрил Емеля. — Я вот тоже решил делом заняться. Хочу газету издавать. Писать, так сказать, летопись нашей сказочной жизни.
— А что тебе для этого нужно?
— Сущий пустяк: нужна типография.
— Действительно, пустяк, — усмехнулась Аграфена и призадумалась. — Ну, да ладно, типографию не обещаю, а компьютер с принтером напоследок подарю!
— Это, конечно, хорошо, — вздохнул Емеля. — Только где же бумагу и краску для принтера брать? Ведь этого добра мне много потребуется.
— А я тебе не простой принтер подарю, а сказочный. В нём бумага и краска никогда не кончатся. Да у тебя и тираж-то, думаю, небольшой будет?
— Ну, экземпляров тридцать, не меньше, — пожал плечами Емеля.
— Это пустяк. Это можно в домашних условиях, не слезая с печки, делать…
Вот так и стал Емеля основателем и бессменным редактором сказочной многотиражки. Первым делом над крыльцом своей избушки он повесил такую вывеску:
РЕДАКЦИЯ ГАЗЕТЫ «СКАЗОЧНЫЕ ВЕДОМОСТИ»
А над окном своего кабинета прибил табличку с лаконичной надписью крупными буквами:
ГЛАВРЕД
«Ну, вот и порядок! — подумал Емеля. — Пусть издалека будет видно. Пусть все знают, что главный редактор живёт и работает здесь. Пусть приносят заметки, сообщают о новостях, а я буду всё это редактировать и помещать в газету».
Время шло, но никто почему-то заметок не приносил, новостей не сообщал. Так что, в конце концов, редактор понял: чтобы все узнали о рождении газеты, надо выпустить первый номер — пилотный.
«О чём же сообщить в первом номере? — задумался Емеля. — Наверное, сначала читателю надо объяснить, что такое газета и в чём её польза. Читателя надо заинтересовать: сделать так, чтобы на страницах газеты каждый нашёл что-то для себя, для души. Если газета станет нужной, её полюбят. Потом в ней непременно появятся постоянные рубрики по интересам, блок новостей, тематические подборки, репортажи, интервью, полезные советы, юмор. А пока ограничимся коротким сообщением об организации школы для щурят».
Когда текст сообщения появился на экране монитора, главред убрал руки с клавиатуры и потянулся в кресле. Ему вдруг ужасно захотелось чаю.
Окно было нараспашку, и Емеля заметил за окном — на берёзе — сороку, которая, раскрыв клюв, смотрела то на него, то на табличку над окном.
«Как по-детски она удивляется, лицезрел первого редактора первой сказочной газеты!» — улыбнулся Емеля. Ему было приятно видеть такое внимание со стороны обыкновенной сороки. Он встал и пошёл на кухню, чтобы налить себе стакан чаю из термоса. А когда вернулся и сел за компьютер, то, к своему удивлению, прочёл на экране короткое сообщение:
НУ, ГЛАВРЕД, БЕРЕГИСЬ!
СКОРО ЗА ВСЁ ОТОМЩУ!
— Что за ерунда?! — фыркнул Емеля, оглядываясь по сторонам. — Кто это мне отомстить грозится? И за что? Вроде никому зла не делал. Может, пошутил кто? Тогда где же этот шутник?
В кабинете никого не было, да и не могло быть. Емеля заглянул под стол, посмотрел в окно. Сорока сидела на той же ветке, только теперь она надменно скосила глаза в сторону. Емеля отхлебнул чаю и поставил стакан на стол.
— Нет, птица тут ни при чём, — сам себе сказал главред. — Какая бы ни была учёная, а пальцев, чтобы клавиши нажимать, у неё нет. Может, в компьютер какой-нибудь вирус проник? Надо бы проверить.
Емеля удалил с экрана слова нелепой угрозы и снова вышел из кабинета. На этот раз он встал за дверью и приложил ухо к стене. В кабинете было тихо.
Но вот послышались ритмичные сухие удары, как будто кто-то стучал ногтем по столу. Емеля рывком открыл дверь и увидел на столе сороку, которая стучала клювом по клавиатуре. Птица оторвалась от своего занятия, резко подняла голову и уставилась на него. В следующую секунду она с шумом вспорхнула, сбросив на пол недопитый стакан, и вылетела в окно. Емеля кинулся следом, но сорока уже сидела на берёзе и весело стрекотала. Видимо, она была довольна своей выходкой.
— Ты что хулиганишь?! — рассердился на неё главред.
— Это ещё цветочки! — ехидно ответила сорока. — Гляди, и ягодки скоро пойдут!
Емеля подошёл к монитору и прочёл на экране следующее сообщение:
ЗА ВСЁ ОТВЕТИШЬ, ГЛАВРЕ…
— Я одного не пойму: почему ты мне угрожаешь? — уже спокойнее спросил Емеля, возвращаясь к окну.
— Как почему! — всплеснула крыльями сорока. — Давно я тебя искала, Вредитель! Всю природу нашу загубил: реки загрязнил, воздух отравил, в птиц камнями кидаешься! Совсем обнаглел: вывеску повесил! «ГЛАвный ВРЕДитель»! Но со мной шутки плохи! Я тебе устрою сладкую жизнь! Думаешь, управы на тебя нет?!
Емеля улыбнулся.
— Он ещё усмехается! — не унималась сорока.
— Тебя как звать-то? — неожиданно спросил Емеля.
— Друзья сорокой Зойкой кличут. А ты мне клюв не заговаривай, ГлаВред несчастный! Скоро узнаешь, где раки зимуют!
— Да. Я — ГлавРед. Но не ГЛАвный ВРЕДитель, а ГЛАВный РЕДактор!
— Тю! Редактор?! — не поверила Зойка.
— Я редактор газеты «Сказочные ведомости» Емельян Пустомелиы. А ты, значит, борец за справедливость и экологию? Понимаешь, Зойка, каждый человек — маленький вредитель. И вредит он часто самому себе же. Каждый загрязняющий и отравляющий думает, что никакого вреда природе не причиняет, что на его век хватит и чистого воздуха, и чистой воды… Как они заблуждаются, эти маленькие вредители!
— А особенно много вреда от машин. Хорошо, что у вас в Сказке их нет.
— Почему нет?! Есть и у нас. Взять хотя бы Кощея. У него целый гараж летающих автомобилей. От него одного сколько вреда! Только на Кощея управы нет.
— Вот мне бы и заняться этим вашим Кощеем. Отомстить ему за вредительство.
— Не стоит с ним связываться. Себе дороже. К тому же, вредителей лучше перевоспитывать, а не мстить им. Поэтому успокойся, уважаемая сорока Зойка, и расскажи мне, откуда ты свалилась на мою голову? Ты, видно, нездешняя?
— Да, я к вам издалека прилетела. Даже не понимаю, как попала к вам — в Сказку. Ведь раньше я в городе жила. В настоящем городе, не в сказочном.
— Да ну! — удивился Емеля. — Впервые слышу, чтобы птица из реального мира в Сказку попала! Может, о тебе заметку написать? А хочешь, я из тебя журналистку сделаю?! Слушай! А ты можешь обратно — в реальный мир — попасть?
— В том-то и дело, что не могу! — сокрушённо вздохнула сорока. — Здесь у вас, конечно, хорошо. Только я по подружкам соскучилась. А обратной дороги не знаю. Я к вам случайно попала, потому что за мной кот гнался. Чуть-чуть не поймал. Сначала я по городу — вдоль забора — летела. А потом оглянулась назад — ни кота, ни забора, ни города. Сплошная Сказка кругом. Не знаю, что теперь и делать…
— Ты, Зойка, только не горюй! Обживёшься, с нашими сороками перезнакомишься. Глядишь, жизнь и наладится. Слушай! Оставайся пока у меня. Сорока ты, я вижу, грамотная, а мне в редакции помощница нужна.
— Вы серьёзно?
— Конечно.
— Пожалуй, останусь, — повеселела Зойка. — Хоть и говорят, что мы, сороки, сплетницы и что новости на хвосте приносим, а без нас было бы скучно. Правда?
— Правда. Про вас, сорок, и не такое ещё говорят.
— A-а! Сороки-воровки? Говорят. Только это не про меня.
— Это хорошо. А где ты образование получила?
— Читать и печатать я у одного учёного-орнитолога научилась. Он писал диссертацию на тему «Роль сороки обыкновенной в поддержании экологического равновесия в природе». Он писал, а сам всё на меня поглядывал. Я сидела рядом — в клетке — и вдохновляла его на создание шедевра научной мысли. Это он так отзывался о своей диссертации… Мы, сороки, от природы любознательны. Вот я — втайне от моего хозяина — и выучилась читать и печатать.
— А что было потом?
— Потом он защитил диссертацию, стал доктором наук, а меня на радостях выпустил на свободу.
— Понятно… Ну что, Зойка, может, хватит тебе на ветке сидеть? Лети сюда, я тебя чем-нибудь угощу!
— Не сегодня, — смутилась сорока. — Мне к вам ещё привыкнуть надо…
С тех пор прошёл целый год. Зойка стала верной помощницей главреда. В редакции она исполняла непростые обязанности секретаря.
Местные сороки, с которыми Зойка быстро сдружилась, стали добровольными почтальонами. Теперь они разносили по лесу не сплетни, а свежие, пахнущие типографской краской газеты.
Жителям Сказки газета понравилась, так что вскоре тираж «Сказочных ведомостей» вырос до ста двух экземпляров. Работы в редакции прибавилось, но Емеля был доволен. Его газета стала нужной. Теперь уже нельзя было представить Сказку без «Сказочных ведомостей»…
Однажды Зойка пропала на целые сутки. Улетела разносить почту ранним утром, а вернулась вечером следующего дня.
— Где ты была?! — воскликнул Емеля, когда Зойка влетела в открытое окно его кабинета. — Я сижу, переживаю, не знаю, что и думать! То ли ты домой улетела, то ли тебя кто поймал, то ли надоело мне помогать.
— Прости меня, Емельян Иванович! — вздохнула Зойка. — Сегодня в Сказке такие дела творились, что я о тебе совсем забыла! Зато новостей принесла тебе — целый вагон!
— Вагон, говоришь?! — заинтересовался Емеля. — А я тут сижу, ничего не знаю. Какие такие дела? Ну-ка рассказывай!
— Ой, Емельян Иванович:, не знаю, с чего и начать, — сказала сорока.
— Ну, как водится, с самого начала.
— Ну, слушай. К нам в Сказку из реального мира проникли киногерои. Злые персонажи из фильмов-боевиков: киборг Напролом, пират Гнильсен, Ворон-варвар и Чёрная Молния — женщина-ниндзя. Вздумалось им померяться силами с жителями нашей Сказки. Первым делом они хитростью пленили Змея Горыныча. Потом заманили в сети Василису Премудрую, Ивана-царевича и Серого Волка. Связали по рукам и ногам Кощея и Кикимору. Кто знает, что они ещё успели бы тут натворить, если б нам на помощь не пришли юные читатели — Алёнка и Ванька.
— Постой, постой, — остановил сороку Емеля. — Какие ещё Алёнка и Ванька? Откуда они?
— Известно, откуда. Из реального мира.
— А к нам как попали?
— Через волшебную книгу.
— Интересно. Вот бы мне с ними встретиться, потолковать!
— К сожалению, они уже домой вернулись.
— Значит, киногероев уже победили?
— Конечно, победили. И я тебе такие фотографии классные принесла, закачаешься! Против киногероев выступило почти всё население Сказки: Баба Яга, Леший, Кощей и Кикимора. А зверята из школы Василисы Премудрой организовали Лесной спецназ под командованием кота Лазера. Они объявили неприятелю ультиматум, а потом атаковали с воздуха. Короче, мы победили. Киногерои связали свою предводительницу Чёрную Молнию и на Кощеевой машине улетели из Сказки.[1]
— Да-а! Дела! — вздохнул Емеля. — Как жаль, что я ничего об этом не знал. Я тоже встал бы на защиту нашей Сказки!
— Не вздыхай, Емельян Иванович. Ты лучше начинай готовить экстренный выпуск газеты. В Сказке ещё многие не знают ни о киногероях, ни о нашей победе. А для начала посмотри цифровые фотографии, которые я тебе принесла. Они у меня на флэшке записаны…
Емеля принялся за работу. Всю ночь он просидел за компьютером, набирая текст. Зато утром сороки уже разносили первые экземпляры газеты читателям. В газете главред осветил события последних дней, заклеймил позором Чёрную Молнию и её сообщников, рассказал о приключениях Алёнки и Ваньки, об освобождении Змея Горыныча. Последний факт подкрепляла фотография самого Змея, сделанная цифровой камерой, любезно предоставленной Кощеем Бессмертным.
После бессонной ночи Емеле очень хотелось спать, но сначала он хотел поговорить с Зойкой об одном безотлагательном деле. Когда сорока вернулась за новым номером, Емеля пригласил её в кабинет и спросил:
— Спецзаказ выполнить сможешь?
— Какой спецзаказ? — встрепенулась Зойка. — Кому газету отнести?
— Алёнке и Ваньке отнесёшь газету, а обратно можешь не возвращаться!
— Как это не возвращаться?! Прогоняете?!
— Почему прогоняю?! Ты же хотела вернуться домой — в реальный мир.
— Тю! Это когда было! С тех пор год прошёл. Я здесь привыкла. Подруг завела. Вам помогаю. Всегда при деле. Так за что такая немилость?!
— Зоя! Ты неправильно меня поняла. Как ты могла подумать, что я тебя прогоняю?! Нравится тебе у нас — живи, сколько хочешь. Я ни за что с тобой не расстанусь!
После небольшой паузы Емеля спросил бесцветным голосом:
— Так, значит, не отнесёшь газету нашим героям?
— Почему не отнесу? Отнесу. Боюсь только их напугать — Алёнку, Ваньку или их родителей.
— Чем напугать?
— Чем?! А вы представьте себе, Емельян Иваныч, как у вас на глазах нежданно-негаданно из книги выпархивает огромная птица с газетой в клюве. Ведь тут и с ума сойти недолго!
— Ну, ты как-нибудь поделикатнее. Уж больно мне хочется детям приятное сделать. Договорились?
— Ладно, попробую. — Зойка встрепенулась и с газетой в клюве вылетела в окно.
